Switching to SSL (solid-state lighting) saves energy, saving energy cumulatively ,(millions of homes and businesses) eases demand on our electricity infrastructure, which is having trouble placating growing demand. Millions of tons of coal are burned every year across North America in power generating plants. Coal fired power plants are the largest contributor CO2 omissions as well as releasing tons of mercury into the environment every year. Switching to SSL is a step everyone can take to; reduce CO2 emissions, reduce carbon footprint, reduce mercury contamination of the environment.
