Light pollution

Light pollution is caused when light is cast in an unwanted direction whether that's a neighbor's window or into the night sky.

One of the key differences between LED and traditional light sources is the ability of the LED to focus its its entire light output into a single direction. While traditional light sources admit light 360°x360° at all times ,only being directed by parabolic reflectors which in turn are inefficient and convert most of the light into heat.

Exterior LED luminaries are being designed in ways to reduce glare, eliminate unwanted light leakage and basically perform better and longer and use less energy than their legacy counterparts(florescent, metal halide, high pressure sodium and mercury vapor).
