Adoption of LED lighting technology gaining momentum

Although LED technology has been around since the 60s it wasn't until recently that solid-state lighting (SSL) , technology can supply sufficient light output to be considered as a replacement technology for incandescent lighting. Breakthroughs in light output per watt as well as advances in thermal technologies are occurring weekly if not daily.

Sears Canada recently upgraded to new LED technology signaling that even the bigger players are adopting this new technology. Many Canadian businesses and households will not wait for governments to insist they change their lighting technologies. British Columbia is holding firm, commenting that it will enforce the 2012 energy efficiency guidelines in British Columbia regardless of policies of the federal government. Companies of all sizes across Canada can and are, realizing the benefits of LED lights.
